Reviews about The Yeatman Hospital
- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪First thing when you arrive, the parking is abysmal, poorly marked and inadequate. There is a ridiculous ticket system in operation that makes it even more frustrating. Parking locally, either street or car park, is a lottery so allow loads of time, and I mean loads! I really feel sorry for the staff who have to run the same gauntlet. The hospital building is old and unfit for purpose, the design is not suitable for a modern hospital with huge amounts of wasted space. It has been 'improved' over the years into a haphazard, easy to get lost, warren of corridor/waiting rooms. The decor, fittings and (more importantly) equipment are totally outdated, and add to the stressful experience. I have no idea how, or why, staff find the motivation to go to work each day, it really is that bad. I am a Somerset patient, bizarrely seeing a Somerset specialist at this Dorset hospital. A previous experience of dubious care, and then lost notes, mean that I will always be prejudice against this establishment, and I would be much happier visiting the much smaller Wincanton hospital or larger Yeovil hospital that this one. There is only one redeeming feature, and that is the staff. Everyone I met was good humoured, caring and efficient, give them the proper modern tools of the trade that they require in a purpose built building and things would be greatly improved. The Yeatman is unfit for purpose as a modern hospital with a large catchment area, and a new one is long overdue. Probably best to turn it into some sort of respite care place, admin or care home, but if you have a choice, go elsewhere for your treatment for now.by Peter TFebruary 13, 2017
